Frequently asked questions
-
How long do I have to undo after I hit send?
You can undo up to 20 seconds after you hit send. We hold the message on our server for this long before sending it out, to give you the chance to undo. Email doesn’t have a mechanism to recall a message once it’s sent to another server so after that, once it’s gone, it’s gone.
-
If I close my laptop before the 20 seconds have elapsed, will it still send?
Yes. Some email clients implement undo send by waiting for 20 seconds before sending it to the server. This means you can think it’s been sent when it hasn’t. Fastmail holds the email on our servers, so doesn’t have this issue.
-
I don’t want the delay — can I turn it off?
Yes. You can turn it off in the Fastmail settings.
